20Making your own Mineral Make Up

Mineral make-up is non-toxic and is a natural sunscreen. Now, doesn’t that make being pretty much more enjoyable? In our Natural Make-up class students will gain an understanding of why they should go ‘mineral’ along with learning how to formulate their own products. Each student will learn to apply the makeup in a special a sequence to use each morning. Students will make, and bring home, three products in their own desired shade: a mineral foundation, a mineral blush and a mineral eye shadow.

23Natural Perfumery
Wednesday, May 23rd, 2012, 6:30-9pm
Cost: Cost: $25, Materials fee $10
Learn to combine your favorite essential oils to develop two personal scents that you love! Perfumes can be developed to smell great and also have aromatic benefits. Some of the more popular essential oils and their benefits will be discussed. Three different processes will be studied and each student will make two types of perfume: a solid perfume and either a spray or roll-on perfume.

26Basic Soap Making
Saturday, May 26th, 2012, 12-5pm
Cost: $50, Materials fee $25
Learn the art of making your own homemade soap. Join Linda White as she discuses the benefits of natural vegetable oils and animal fats for your skin as well as how to safely handle lye. Learn how to personalize your soaps with specialty oils, botanicals, molds, natural preservatives, colorants and essential oils. 30Making your own Natural Bath & Body Care
Wednesday, May 30th, 2012, 6:30-9pm
Cost: $25, Materials fee $8
Learn how to use natural bath and body products to promote healthy hair and skin. Join Linda White and make your own bath salts, sugar scrub, bath bombs and deodorant. Toothpaste, shampoo bar, hair rinse and bath oils will also be discussed. Printed recipes and instruction will be included in the class for each person to take home.

An In-depth Program in Herbal Medicine
The Inspiration
Make a deeper connection to the earth. Discover the healing properties of medicinal plants – a special and unique part of our world. Herbal Foundations is an in-depth, three-part herbal studies program. Come on a journey with us and experience an intimate connection with healing herbs native to the Northern Rocky Mountains. We will study medicinal plants easily grown in our northern climate as well as some special exotics. Learn how to grow herbs and how essential oils are made. Explore using herbs for different body systems. Learn the art and science of medicine making. Students will foster a life long relationship with herbs as we explore the healing power of plants and the study of herbal medicine.The SEED Program (The original Herbal Foundations program)
Herbs for Body Systems: Respiratory System, Cardiovascular System, Nervous System, Reproductive System, Kidneys and Bladder, Liver and Digestive System, Skin, Muscular Skeletal System, Lymphatic System, Immune SystemMedicine Making: Medicine making tools, Herb drying and processing, Capsule making, Tinctures, Cough syrups, Salves, Herbal oils, Teas, Decoctions, Poultices, Liniments, Hydrotherapy
Field Trips: Wildcrafting, Rocky Mountain Lavender
Other Classes: Wildcrafting Ethics, Introduction to Aromatherapy
Students will complete Herbal Foundations with a full natural medicine chest created with their own hands, as well as a certificate upon completion of the course.
The SEED program now offers continuing education for both nurses and chiropractors. Montana Nurses Association, an accredited approver by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation, approved herbal Foundations continuing nursing education activity. The Montana Board of Chiropractors has also approved herbal Foundations.
