Bitter Is Good For Your Belly
Herbs For Healthy Digestion
Did you know that bitter tasting herbs are really good for you? "Bitters", as they are called in the herbal world, work to stimulate gastric secretions, helping to promote healthy digestion. Bitters help to reduce gas and bloating and can help curb patterns of overeating and sweet cravings. Taken several minutes before meals, bitter herbs also help to turn around issues of chronic heartburn and indigestion. Famous bitter herbs include Gentian and Dandelion root. Try the following suggestions to improve digestive health:
- Take 15-30 drops of Digestive Bitters Formula before meals 2-3x daily
- Drink warm "carminative" teas throughout the day. These pleasant tasting herbs are high in essential oils that help relax the digestive system. Fennel, Anise, Chamomile, Mints and Catnip are included in this category, or try our carminative, loose-leaf blend called Rejuva-Mint Tea.
- Try a new food combining strategy: eat fruit by itself, avoid combining carbohydrates with proteins at the same meal and eat lots of veggies
- Chew your food thoroughly and take your time!
