Breathe Easy This Spring!

Use the following essential oil blend to clear out your lungs and purify the air in your house or work environment.

1 ml Eucalyptus globulus
1 ml Tea Tree
1 ml Peppermint
10 drops Thyme linalool
Mix together.

Add 3 – 6 drops of the above blend to an aromatherapy diffuser
Add 10 drops to 1 ounce of vegetable oil and rub on the chest and back
Put 15 drops in a hot bath. Relax and BREATHE.
Fill a bowl with hot (not boiling!) water and add 3 drops of the essential oil blend.  Make a steam by covering your head with a towel as you lean over the bowl.  Breath deeply!

Meadowsweet Herbs’ Spring Cleansing Program

All of the herbal extracts you see in our store are made at Meadowsweet Herbs by trained herbalists. Our cleansing formulas are traditional springtime favorites. Burdock • Red Clover Compound, LVR Cleanse and Milk Thistle Compound make an excellent spring cleaning trio.

3 Easy Ways To Love Your Liver!

1. Burdock • Red Clover Compound
This formula contains herbs known as alteratives that support healthy liver and skin function. It is a wonderful first step formula for a well-rounded spring cleanse.

2. LVR Cleanse
A powerful blend for cleansing, this formula contains herbs traditionally used to support liver function. LVR Cleanse is a good follow-up to Burdock • Red Clover Compound to enhance your cleansing experience

3. Milk Thistle Compound
Milk Thistle Compound is recommended as a final step after using LVR Cleanse or any other cleansing program to maintain health. It contains herbs that support liver function. Useful for poor digestion, Milk Thistle Compound also soothes headaches caused by poor diet. It can be used as a daily tonic to support liver health.

 

Spring Tonic Soup:

A medicinal soup to awaken your body for spring!
Contributed by Herbalist Jessica Datta. Look for her class on Spring Cleansing happening April 5. (see below)

Ingredients:
2 tablespoons cooking oil
1 onion chopped
1 fresh burdock root sliced
2 cloves garlic minced
1 carrot sliced
1 celery stalk sliced
1 handful of fresh, young nettle leaves or 1 cup of nettle tea
1 cup vegetable broth
1 cup brown rice cooked in astragalus tea
Fresh ginger root grated (to taste)
Fresh chopped parsley and cilantro to garnish
Salt, pepper, and/or other spices to taste

Directions:
In a frying pan, sauté oil, onion, garlic, ginger, burdock root, carrot and celery. Make one cup of nettle tea unless you have fresh leaves. Make two cups of astragalus tea. Cook brown rice in astragalus tea. In soup pot, combine sautéed vegetables, nettle tea, vegetable broth, spices and astragalus rice. Simmer, covered on low heat for two hours. Serve with freshly chopped cilantro and parsley as garnish.
